Daily Public Horse Farm Tours

Our 3.5-hour Daily Public horse farm tours are offered in two sessions per day. A Morning Session (8:30 am - 12:00 noon) and an Afternoon Session (12:30 pm - 4:00 pm).
Discover why Lexington, Kentucky is known as the Horse Capital of the World on this expertly narrated tour with transportation between destinations provided on a comfortable 13-person passenger van. All tours depart from the Thoroughbred Heritage Visitors Center in Lexington, KY with guests returned to the Visitors Center at the conclusion of the tour.
Destination stops are made at two or more of the beautiful Thoroughbred horse farms that help make the Lexington, Kentucky region the undisputed epicenter of Thoroughbred breeding in the United States. Also includes a scenic drive through the beautiful Bluegrass and, as available, a stop at the world famous Keeneland Race Course*.
Additional destinations are also included subject to availability on the day of the tour.
All tours are given by very experienced local guides who share a wealth of stories about the history of the Lexington area, farms, bourbon production and the Thoroughbred breed of horse -- the most desired breed for winning the world's most important and valuable races.
The destination stop(s) at Thoroughbred horse farms will allow seeing the horses up close and personal and often provide opportunities for some limited interaction with the horses.
The destination stop at Keeneland Race Course* features not only the world famous track but also filming locations for the major motion pictures Secretariat, Seabiscuit, and Dreamer.
ADULTS: The tour is designed primarily for adults, senior guests and older children who have an interest in learning about horses. There is no horseback riding on the tour or open play spaces for younger children and the tour is not recommended for children under the age of 6. The farms we visit are working farms with professional people doing their professional work. For children, a local destination with open spaces, a playground and activities specifically designed for active young children is called the “Kentucky Horse Park”. The Kentucky Horse Park is located in Lexington.
If you love horses or just want to take in this beautiful region then this tour is for you!
* NOTE: All tour itineraries can vary depending on changing venue and farm availability as occurring on the specific day of the tour. This is true for all of the venues (including Keeneland) and Thoroughbred farms. Farms can change in availability resulting from a wide range of factors including weather, farm construction projects, animal health initiatives, and other events.
Keeneland Availability: At its discretion Keeneland Race Course is generally available for both Morning and Afternoon Sessions throughout the year but is NOT available for any sessions on the days that it conducts live racing (generally Wednesday-Sunday for 17 total dates each in the months of April and October.) A current calendar of Keeneland’s upcoming live racing schedule is available on its website. Keeneland will not be available on those dates.
We work hard to bring together the very best possible tour experience on each and every day for our guests.
